Fifty-eight percent of all emergency calls are for Senior Citizens. The large majority of those calls are problematic because sometimes the patient is unable to provide us with vital information needed for their care. They may not be able to because for many reasons that include dementia, a physical impairment, or because they are unconscious.
About five years ago WTRS started the File of Life Program for the residents of Guilderland and North Bethlehem. This program provides, free of charge, a mini medical history template that can be filled out by the patient, their family or friends, or we would be more than happy to help them as well. It comes with a magnetic sleeve that sits on their refrigerator in plain sight, or you have one to place in a car, so that in the event we arrive for a emergency all their vital information is quickly available. This would include name, date of birth, past medical history, medications, allergies, emergency contacts, and more.
If you would like one for a loved one or friend feel free to stop by or email us!
